Outpatient Surgery Center
UT Southwestern's Outpatient Surgery Center is a state of the art surgical facility dedicated to providing the best in surgical services along with personal care, innovation and convenience of a small facility. Located in UT Southwestern's Outpatient building which also houses clinics, physician offices and radiology imaging services. The facilities included in this 20,000 square foot building include eight operating suites, five procedure rooms and luxury guest suites for overnight patients. Dallas Day Surgery Center
The Dallas Day Surgery Center is located in the Baylor Tom Landry Center. The Plastic Surgery Department has institute a full-time rotation in the private offices for aesthetic surgery and outpatient experience. this is in addition to the cosmetic clinics that provide aesthetic surgery for the resident with faculty supervision. More than 500 cosmetic procedures are carried out annually with the resident being the staff surgeon on more than 150 procedures.Baylor University Medical Center
Baylor University Medical Center, a 987 bed not for profit teaching hospital, is a major patient care and research center in the southwest. There is an average daily census of 20 plastic surgery beds. One plastic surgery second year resident one plastic surgery first year resident are assigned to Baylor at all times as well as general surgery rotators and occasionally senior medical students taking a plastic surgery elective. Baylor University Medical Center provides a broad experience in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the breast, microsurgery and elective hand surgery, as well as a broad range of head and neck plastic surgical procedures. In addition, the faculty private cosmetic office is located in the Tom Landry Sports Center. Children's Medical Center
Children's Medical Center of Dallas is the principal teaching and referring hospital for pediatric patients and is immediately adjacent to Parkland. A plastic surgery resident is assigned to Children's on a full time basis, two months at the junior level and two months as a senior. There is a large volume and broad range of congenital anomalies seen with significant emphasis on ear reconstruction, cleft lip and palate and craniofacial surgery. Wednesday afternoon craniofacial clinics are conducted by the pediatric plastic surgery service with participation by the neurosurgical and oral maxillofacial surgery services. There are Monday, Tuesday and Friday pediatric plastic surgery clinics which include cleft lip and palate patients as well as bi-monthly vascular anomaly clinics. The congenital hand clinic is held every Tuesday afternoons as well as a trauma/hand clinic every Friday afternoon. Veterans Affairs Medical Center
The Dallas V.A Medical Center has a 900 bed capacity with 15 designated beds for our plastic surgery service. A resident is maintained at this institution on a full time basis. The VA provides broad experience in head and neck ablative and reconstructive surgery as well as the surgery of cutaneous malignancies. In addition, a broad experience of plastic surgical reconstructive procedures is available.Two clinics a week are held at the Veterans Affairs Center with an average of approximately 25 to 35 patients in each clinic. A separate day of minor surgery is scheduled in a minor surgery operating room adjacent to the clinic. Four full operating days are scheduled for resident major surgical procedures. An additional day of conferences and head and neck tumor clinic completes the VA rotation. The resident is assisted by the staff physician long with a very capable team of associates that includes a nurse coordinator and a physician's assistant. this team allows the resident to have understanding of an office based practice and provides training in office management. |
